SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE:

 Students may apply for the following scholarships:
Charles Rodney Albert Endowed Memorial Scholarship
Awarded annually to an outstanding graduate or undergraduate student majoring in the Department of Sociology and Social Work. Awarded in the spring semester for use the following fall.
Available to all students.
Reba Bucklew Endowed Fund
Recipient must be a junior or senior social work major with a B or better average in all social work courses, must have demonstrated interest in social work as a profession, and participated in departmental activities and service to the department. Awarded in the spring semester for use the following fall or can be split over both the fall and spring semesters.
Available to current TWU students.
Daniel K. Forrister Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Student must be a junior or senior social work major, be enrolled in or have completed Practice II (SOWK 3233), be involved in the community providing volunteer services, be in good academic standing.
Available to current TWU students.
Maureen Gallagher Memorial Scholarship
Award to be made annually to an undergraduate sociology or a social work major of sophomore or junior standing with one full academic year remaining after presentation of award. Can be awarded either fall or spring.
Available to transfer and current students.
Jessie H. Humphries Endowed Scholarship
Recipient is to be an undergraduate or a graduate student in the Department of Sociology and Social Work. Can be awarded either fall or spring.
Available to all students.
Bertha and Morris Levy Scholarship
Recipient is to be an advanced undergraduate or graduate sociology major. This scholarship can be given every semester.
Available to current, transfer, and graduate students.
Ann Lindemann Starnater Endowed Scholarship
Recipient is to be a major in the department who is an outstanding student and has exhibited leadership qualities and service to the university. Awarded in spring to be used the following fall or can be split for use over both the fall and spring semesters.
Available to current TWU students.
TWU General Scholarship Funds
TWU General Scholarship Funds are allocated through the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences to be used to increase the likelihood of attracting and retaining high achieving students. Approximately 50% of the funds are awarded to new incoming students, including undergraduate students. Criteria for distribution of awards are primarily academic excellence, followed by financial need. These awards may be used to waive tuition to out-of-state residents as set out in the departmental and University guidelines. Awarded every semester.
Available to all students.
Ethelyn Davis Graduate Fellowship in Sociology
The recipient must be a full-time graduate student in sociology working toward a graduate degree, either M.A. or Ph.D. The recipient may not have either a teaching assistantship or research assistantship. The recipient is not required to perform any work on behalf of or within the Department of Sociology. The purpose is to allow the student to devote full time to academic studies. The recipient is to prepare and submit for publication or to present at a regional or national meeting a research paper in the area of the student's major interest in sociology.
Available to graduate students.
Jeanne Powell Memorial Scholarship
Awarded annually to a social work student who has an average GPA and financial need.
Available to all students.

All recipients of scholarships will be acknowledged at the Spring Honors Banquet and are expected to attend if at all possible.
