To Virginia Chandler Dykes Leadership Award Luncheon At Dallas

DALLAS —
Dallas business and civic leaders Gretchen Minyard Williams
and J.L. “Sonny” Williams will receive the 2005
Virginia Chandler Dykes Leadership Award, presented by Texas
Woman’s University and the TWU School of Occupational
Therapy, Jan. 25 at the Dallas Country Club. TWU Chancellor
and President Dr. Ann Stuart will present the award during
a luncheon from noon to 2 p.m.
Tickets to the
luncheon are available for $100 per person by calling the
TWU Office of Institutional Development at (940) 898-3863.
Table sponsorships also are available. The deadline to purchase
tickets is Jan. 18.
The Virginia Chandler
Dykes Leadership Award was established in 2002 and is given
annually to Dallas residents who represent the caring, commitment
and leadership Mrs. Dykes exemplifies. Previous recipients
include Geraldine “Tincy” Miller and Susan and
Charles Cooper.
As a health care
provider and through her civic activities, Mrs. Dykes has
spent a lifetime committed to helping others. She is known
internationally for her work in occupational therapy. Locally,
she is known for her leadership in many cultural and charitable
organizations.
Gretchen Minyard
Williams is former co-chairman of the board and former co-CEO
of Minyard Food Stores Inc. J. L. “Sonny” Williams
is former president and COO of the grocery store chain. The
couple has been recognized by numerous organizations for their
philanthropic activities.
