TWU Drama Presents The
Thurber Carnival

Woman’s University’s Theatre Department continues its
2004-05 season with James Thurber’s “The Thurber Carnival”
Oct. 15-17 in Margo Jones Performance Hall, located at Pioneer Circle
and Oakland Avenue on TWU’s Denton campus.
Performances are at 8
p.m. Friday, Oct. 15 and Saturday, Oct. 16, with a 2 p.m. matinee
Sunday, Oct. 17. Tickets are $5 for students and senior citizens
and $12 for adults. For reservations or more information, call (940)

Thurber’s witty
short stories and cartoons were a popular mainstay of The New Yorker
magazine in the 1930s and ’40s. He is best remembered for
his character Walter Mitty, a henpecked husband who daydreams of
a more exciting life.
“A Thurber Carnival”
is based on Thurber’s short story by the same name. The series
of small plays, written in 1933, won a Tony Award in 1960. Thurber
portrayed himself in the 1960 production for a total of 88 performances.
The cast includes Casey
Bellows of Rio Vista; Nic Carbonero of McKinney; Ben Derby of Denton,
who also serves as artistic coordinator of the production; Christina
English of Jourdanton; Brista-Elise Hurst of Longview; Maranda Mang
of Hewitt; Jason Morgan of Irving; Dennis Sloan of Dallas; Keri
Sternin of Aubrey; Meagan Welch of Fort Worth; and Jodi York of
Addison.
Production staff includes
directors D’Lytha Brown, Stefanie Glenn and Jaymes Gregory,
all of Fort Worth; Nic Carbonero; Ruth Engel of Keene; Ginger Goldman
and Brad McEntire, both of Dallas; Victoria Irvine of Garland; Jason
Morgan and Veronica Parrish-McGruder, both of Irving; Reginald Peters
of Dangerfield; Kari Schouveller of Wichita Falls; and Sasha Truman-McGonnel
of Fort Belknap, Mont. Joshua Scott Hancock of Kilgore is the choreographer.
Stefanie Glenn is the stage manager, and Nic Carbonero is the set
designer. D’Lytha Brown is the lighting designer, and Ruth
Engel is the props mistress.
