TWU Wind Ensemble Concert
To Focus On American Music
10/29/04
DENTON — George
Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue,” a quintessential
piece of American music, is both the title and the centerpiece of
a concert by the Texas Woman’s University Wind Ensemble.
The concert is scheduled
at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, in the Margo Jones Performance Hall,
located at Oakland and Sawyer streets on TWU’s Denton campus.
Admission is free. For more information, call (940) 898-2500.
Dr. Richard Shuster,
TWU assistant professor of music, will be the piano soloist on the
title piece, which he describes as one of the most famous pieces
for piano and orchestra.
“It’s popular around the world,” Shuster said.
“It seems everyone knows and loves it.”
TWU’s Wind Ensemble
also will perform works by David Amram, who recently served as composer
in residence at the university, and Michael Torke.
