4/8/02
DENTON Three international students at Texas Woman's
University have received Good Neighbor Scholarships. The three
are:
- German R. Arenas, a master's reading education student
from Colombia;
- Sonia Elizabeth Gibbs, a senior from Barbados majoring in
business administration-marketing; and
- Nola Smith from Trinidad and Tobago, who is majoring in
nursing at the Dallas/Parkland campus.
The Good Neighbor Scholarship Program, administered by the
Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, pays the tuition costs
of scholarship recipients for an entire academic year.
The Good Neighbor Scholarship Program is open to international
students who are citizens of countries in the Western Hemisphere,
except Cuba. The student must intend to return to his or her
native country upon completion of his or her degree.
Students also must be attending or be eligible to attend
public colleges or universities in the state of Texas to receive
the scholarship. Students who are permanent residents of the
United States, or who have refugee status, are not eligible for
the program.
Undergraduate students must have a 2.0 or better
grade-point-average, and graduate students must have a 3.0 or
higher GPA.
