TWU To Host Family Therapy Seminar

DENTON Texas Woman's University will host a seminar
titled "Functional Family Therapy: Principles and
Applications" on Feb. 21 from 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on the
Denton campus. Dr. James F. Alexander, professor of psychology at
the University of Utah, will be the featured presenter.
The seminar is design for psychologists, marriage and family
therapists, licensed professional counselors, social workers,
school counselors and others who work with adolescents and
substance abuse prevention. Participants completing the seminar
will receive six clock hours of continuing education credit that
will be accepted by the Texas State Board of Examiners of
Professional Counselors, Texas State Board for Social Work
Examiners, the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists
and the Texas State Board of Examiners of Marriage and Family
Therapists.
Registration is $10 for Federation of North Texas Area
Universities' students and faculty seeking continuing education
credit certification. Federation students and faculty not seeking
credit certification can attend for free. Registration is $69
through Feb. 7 for persons not affiliated with the federation and
$79 after Feb. 7. On-site registration is $89 and seating is
available on a first-come basis.

Dr. Alexander has been a primary trainer and clinical
researcher for functional family therapy for 30 years. He was
listed on the most recent Good Housekeeping list of top
100 mental health experts.
The seminar is sponsored by the Federation of North Texas Area
Universities, which includes TWU, Texas A&M-Commerce and the
University of North Texas.
