Catherine Angel Lecture Rescheduled At TWU
11/11/02
DENTON A gallery lecture by nationally known artist
Catherine Angel has been rescheduled for 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 25,
in the West Fine Art Gallery, located at Oakland Avenue and
Pioneer Circle on the Texas Woman's University Denton campus.
Angel's exhibit, To Embrace, currently is on
display in the gallery. The exhibition has been extended through
the date of her lecture. The work may be viewed from 9 a.m. until
4 p.m. weekdays.
To Embrace is a photographic installation
surveying issues of death and time. The work records Angel's
experiences of surviving ovarian cancer, a diagnosis she received
at age 21. A series of panels, alternating between collages and
mounted pages of text, form an integrated unity that is at times
chilling and moving, but always enlightening of the human spirit.
I did change, Angel said of the experience
chronicled in her art. I did become different. I now
embrace that difference as my own.
