TWU Hunger Banquet
Nov. 17
10/5/04
DENTON —
Texas Woman's University will host the Fourth Annual Hunger
Banquet, which dramatizes the distribution of resources and
wealth in the world, Nov. 17 beginning at 5:30 p.m. in room
207 of the Student Center, located at the southwest corner
of Bell Avenue and Administration Drive. Participants are
asked to donate a canned good. The event is open to the public.
As participants
arrive, they will be given biographies of persons they will
represent and be divided into social classes. The lowest social
class will sit on the floor and eat rice without utensils
and the highest class will sit at a table and eat a full meal.
The purpose is to help Hunger Banquet participants visualize
the issue of world hunger.
The event is sponsored
by the TWU Center for Student Development, the Campus Activities
Board, Habitat for Humanity International, Aramark Dining
Services, the TWU Counseling Center and Helping Hands, a student
community service organization.
The Hunger Banquet
is held as part of National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness
