names Karen Kernodle Martin director of development

DALLAS/DENTON —
Karen Kernodle Martin of Irving has been named director of
development at Texas Woman’s University. In addition
to other development duties, she will co-chair the fundraising
campaign for the new TWU T. Boone Pickens Institute of Health
Sciences-Dallas Center and organize the university’s
Virginia Chandler Dykes Leadership Award Luncheon.
“I am both
honored and thrilled to have the opportunity to serve TWU,”
Ms. Martin, CFRE, said. “I look forward to assisting
TWU in raising funds for its new Dallas building and for scholarships,
so the university can continue to graduate students who meet
the needs of the citizens of Texas.”
TWU has raised
to date more than $48 million toward its $55 million goal
for construction of the new Dallas Institute. The annual Virginia
Chandler Dykes Leadership Award Luncheon raises funds for
scholarships for outstanding TWU graduate students. The 2009
luncheon honoring Caroline Rose Hunt will take place Feb.
26, 2009 at the Belo Mansion and Pavilion.
Ms. Martin previously
was the executive director of development for Baylor University’s
College of Arts and Sciences and the university’s Honors
College. She also has held development leadership positions
at the Baylor Medical Center at Irving, the Irving Schools
Foundation, the North Hills Preparatory School and the Delta
Delta Delta Foundation.
She serves as the
board development chair of the Texas PTA, public relations
chair-elect for the Greater Dallas Chapter Association of
Fundraising Professionals and is a member of the Baylor University
Women’s Council of Dallas and the Council for Advancement
and Support Of Education (CASE.) She received her bachelor’s
degree and MBA from Baylor University.
