TWU School of
Library and Information Studies plans TLA conference events

DENTON —
The Texas Woman’s University School of Library and Information
Studies (SLIS) and the American Library Association will co-sponsor
“Creating Advocacy Leaders: An Advocacy Institute Program”
during the 2007 Texas Library Association Annual Conference
this week in San Antonio.
The program will
take place at 4 p.m. Thursday, April 12 at the Hyatt Regency
San Antonio. The program will focus on the need to create
advocacy leaders to advance the library message and organize
library supporters at the grassroots level. Carol Brey-Casiano,
director of the El Paso Public Library and a past president
of the ALA, is the keynote speaker.
TWU SLIS also will
host a Spring Mini-Forum from 3:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April
12, at the Hyatt Regency. There is no cost to attend. Mini-Forum
sessions include a panel of current TWU SLIS students, an
opportunity for students to ask faculty members about the
program, an alumni session with Dr. Ling Hwey Jen, SLIS director,
and a workshop titled, “MySpaces@Your Library: Blogs
and Wikis and RSS, Oh My!”
