DiMarco selected
as TWU’s Uhlir Fellowship recipient
3/6/06
DENTON — Dr. Nancy DiMarco, director of the Institute
for Women’s Health (IWH) at Texas Woman’s University,
is the 2006 recipient of the Dr. G. Ann Uhlir Endowed Fellowship
for Higher Education Administration.
Dr. DiMarco will use the $1,250 award to increase the visibility
and outreach of the IWH.
“I am thrilled
to get this award,” Dr. DiMarco said. Her goals for
the fellowship include extending her leadership in the university,
the community and national professional associations.
“I will be
mentored by established administrators and researchers at
TWU who have different leadership and research styles. I will
then use those skills to help guide young faculty,”
she said. “In order to develop partnerships with community
organizations, I will establish a Women’s Health Symposium
that will involve several outside agencies working together.”
The fellowship
is designed to take beginning administrators, faculty or students
interested in administration and help them develop the leadership,
management and interpersonal skills needed to be a highly
qualified and successful academic administrator. Dr. Ann Uhlir,
founding dean of the TWU College of Health Sciences, provided
initial funding for the fellowship in 1996.
