DALLAS —
The Texas Woman’s University School of Occupational
Therapy student honor society Pi Theta Epsilon will host a
performance by the Actual Lives Project on Saturday, Oct.
28 at 7:30 p.m. at the Dallas Latino Cultural Center, located
at 2600 Live Oak in Dallas.
Tickets are $5
in advance and $8 at the door. For more information or for
tickets, call (940) 231-8624 or email esmith1@twu.edu
or ayoung2@twu.edu.
The Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas and the Dallas Latino
Cultural Center are also sponsoring the event.
Austin’s
award-winning Actual Lives performance project is a motley
crew of disabled performers who make comic yet thoughtful
theatre from the raw material of everyday life. Trying hard
not to be inspirational, Actual Lives pokes fun at things
that are supposed to be serious, speaks publicly about things
that are usually private, critiques popular culture and generally
tries to stir things up.
Actual Lives is
a component of VSA arts of Texas, a nonprofit organization
dedicated to reducing barriers between the cultural arts and
people with disability. For more information about the performance
group, visit http://www.actualives.org/.
