Federation brings
education symposium to TWU

DENTON — Dr. Lillian G. Katz, an international leader
in early childhood education, will present a seminar Wednesday,
June 22, on Project Approach, followed by a two-day workshop
at Texas Woman’s University. Her visit is sponsored
by the Early Childhood Education Committee of the Federation
of North Texas Area Universities.
Project Approach refers to a set of teaching strategies that
enable teachers to guide children through in-depth studies
of real-world topics. The seminar is scheduled from 4:30-6:30
p.m. at the J. Erik Jonsson Community School, 106 E. 10th
St. in Dallas. Registration for the seminar, which is open
to the public, is $10 at the door.
The workshop, a special topics graduate course open to all
graduate students, will take place June 23-24 on TWU’s
Denton campus. For more information, contact Dr. Lin Moore,

Dr. Katz is professor
emerita of early childhood education at the University of
Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She has authored more than 150
publications on early childhood education, teacher education,
child development and parenting.
The Federation of North Texas Area Universities is a consortium
of three universities — TWU, the University of North
Texas and Texas A&M University-Commerce. The Federation
coordinates various graduate programs and activities among
the institutions.
