5/13/03
DENTON — Four international students at Texas Woman’s University
have received Good Neighbor Scholarships. They are:
- Sonia Elizabeth Gibbs, a graduate student from Barbados working on her
master’s degree in business administration;
- Nola Smith from Trinidad and Tobago, a nursing major at the Dallas/Parkland
campus;
- Angie Galvis from Colombia, a graduate student working on her master’s
degree in occupational therapy; and
- Nadia Mills from Saint Kitts and Nevis, a graduate student working on her
master’s degree in physical therapy at the Houston campus.
The Good Neighbor Scholarship Program, administered by the Texas Higher Education
Coordinating Board, pays the tuition costs of scholarship recipients for an
entire academic year.
The Good Neighbor Scholarship Program is open to international students who
are citizens of countries in the Western Hemisphere, except Cuba. The student
must intend to return to his or her native country upon completion of his or
her degree.
Students also must be attending or be eligible to attend public colleges or
universities in the state of Texas to receive the scholarship. Students who
are permanent residents of the United States, or who have refugee status, are
not eligible for the program.
Undergraduate students must have a 2.0 or better grade-point-average, and graduate
students must have a 3.0 or higher GPA.
